Use the Topology Freeform Function - Part 1

This movie showcases the Topology function found in the Graphite Freeform Tools that enables you to build a low-poly model from a hight-poly counterpart. This can be useful when you purchase or receive a model, and then discover that its geometry is imperfect. You can rebuild this geometry using the Topology function

Create Anaglyph Images Using the Composite Map

This movie shows how to create anaglyth(3D) images using the Composite map. Anaglyph images provide a stereoscopic 3D effect when viewed with red & cyan glasses. The benefit of the technique shown here is that it uses features built in 3ds Max, instead of relying on commercial applications or plugins. You will need a pair of anaglyth glasses in order to experiment the end results seen here. If you don't have any, run an internet search for "3D anaglypth glasses". Many sites sell inexpensive paper glasses that work well

Use MetaSL Shaders

This movie shows how to use MetaSL shaders in conjunction with Hardware Rendering. The WYSIWYG effect makes it easy to visualize the end results in the viewport, A send off your work to rendering or to a game engine that is compatible with MetaSL shader trees

Use Viewport Canvas - Part 1

This movie shows how to use Viewport Canvas, a tool to paint onto an object's texture directly in the viewport. This can be especially useful to those users who are not experts in 2D paint applications or in UV Unwrapping techniques

Use 3ds Max with Mental Mill - Part 1

This movie introduces Autodesk Mental Mill, a tool that enables you to easily create platform-independent shaders using the MetaSL language. The graphical interface of the Artist Edition of Mental Mill is such that you can create complex shaders without any programming skills. The end result enables you to view complex looks in the 3ds Max viewport through hardware, or at render time if you use a MetaSL compliant renderer such as Mental Ray
